Dear Dr. Cherrye,

Bullying is wearing us out, and does not appear to be vanishing in our schools. Yet, you have continued your outreach giving parents, teachers and educators great pointers and tips.

~ What next? ~

Dear What next?

I realize how you must feel. Bullying is still on the rise, so we must remain steadfast and diligent in our attempt to decrease these unwanted, nerve wracking behaviors. I feel you!

I am reminded of the ‘star fish’ story and how impossible it appeared to the man for the little boy to save the thousands of star fish that washed onto the shore after the tide. The little boy also recognized that it would be impossible for him to save ALL the star fish, but he picked one up and threw it back into the ocean where it belonged. To the little boy, at least he was able to make a difference saving the life of that one star fish.

My dear friend, this is how we must approach the bullying pandemic facing our school children. We must do all that we can and give all that we have within us to save as many children as we can during the time that we have. Like the little boy who saved that one star fish, if we can save at least one child from the horrors of bullying, we have done a good thing.
